An Australian story set in outback Queensland. When drive-in owner Coll and his wife Tiffany come up against a blow-in mayor who wants to leave his mark on the little town of Lindel, Northern Queensland by building an Entertainment Precinct to include a Live Theatre, Art Gallery and Cinema which pits the council against a ratepayer who has very deep ties to the community. Colls family own and operate not only the drive-in, the only entertainment for a few hundred miles, and the only petrol station in town, but have  a bread and newspaper delivery service, giving them a unique position in the community. With Colls mother who still speaks to her dead husband, his big brother who's  done time for running the biggest two-up school in the state, his gay son, who Coll thinks is the only gay in town, and his daughter, his only hope for grandchildren, all depending on him to fight his way out. With plenty of help from his mates, and a very crooked football match which sees the mayor doped, he takes on  the film company's who favour hard-top cinemas over drive-ins.

IT'S AS SIMPLE AS THAT

When an award-winning screenwriter, Anthony Faulkner, shows up to his awards night drunk, his agent rents him a house and buys him a one-way ticket to Portofino, the scene of his greatest success with orders to get sober and write something. The alcohol that used to give him an edge had now blunted his writing skills. His landlady, Katherine doesn't like him on sight, but when her artistically talented daughter Gia arrives and sets her sights on making him her stepfather, their feelings towards each other gradually change. The romance has cured his writers block, and the results become a  story about these two remarkable women. (names, locations and professions changed to protect the innocent) but they feel betrayed and send him packing.  When it's turned into a successful movie they realise that it's really a love letter to them both.
